What a journey capturing the essence of a secret elopement in the breathtaking Austrian mountains. The story of J & P actually began months prior, because I already had the privilege of capturing the secretly planned proposal in the Dolomites in Italy. What an honor it was to be the chosen photographer for their secret elopement (What is an elopement?) a few months later. And while we had one of the greatest days ever in Bad Aussee, Altaussee and on top of the Loser, no one – except us three – even knew that they were engaged. They announced their engagement and marriage to their family and friends afterwards. But let‘s start from the beginning.
The day before their elopement we drove together in a small van to Upper Austria and once again we talked the whole drive through about mindset, relationships and values. In the morning the Getting Ready took place in Bad Aussee at Podenhaus, a place I highly recommend to my couples!
We were blessed with incredibly beautiful weather and sunbeams touched our faces falling through the windows. We celebrated the start of this elopement day with such a relaxed atmosphere, with listening to music, reading letters and a lot of talking. One thing I‘ll remember forever will be the groom and I curling and doing the hair of the bride. That was so special to me! Something that really made me realize that I want to spend my time with Elopements.
From there, we journey to the heights of the Loser mountain in Altaussee (after we got ourselves some food for the way). J & P received so many congrats and smiles while they wandered around in their outfits. I remember an elderly couple that we met in the mountains that told J & P, that it just gets better over the years.
Thank you for letting me be part of this amazing journey! Not only on your elopement day, but also on your engagement day in Italy! Thank you!
